DTS is a training school of the missionary organization YWAM. It is a short-term concentrated discipleship and world missions training program. It builds a person’s foundation as a Christian by focusing on relationship with God (knowing God) and a heart for the lost (making God known). The training consists of a 3 month lecture phase a 3 month outreach. The lectures have a different theme each week and guest speakers come from both within and outside Japan. Lecture topics and speakers may vary from school to school. There are currently three schools in Japan, run in different languages and with different outreach focuses.
Hearing the Voice of God / True Repentance / Holy Spirit / Human Relationships
The Character of God / The Father’s Love / Evangelism and Mission / Praise and Worship
Intercession / Inner Healing / Giving Up Rights / Spiritual Warfare
Biblical Principles of Finances / Inductive Bible Study Method / Devotions / etc.
After the 3 month lecture phase, teams go out on an evangelistic outreach. On outreach, a student will do street evangelism, serve in churches and participate in other types of ministry. Outreach locations may be in Japan and/or overseas and may be different with each DTS. Staff and students pray together to hear God’s voice and obey Him.
